Jess knew she was an artist from a young age, always keen to study life with paint. After focusing on art at high school Jess left to pursue her passion at Art school in Wellington, learning all of the important aspects of being a practicing artist. Largely self-taught Jess incorporates her part Samoan heritage into many of her works reflecting the people and lush scenery of the Pacific. During this period Jess was a fulltime practicing artist for twelve years. Her work spans several genre from large garden murals to intimate portraits. Jess's work hangs nationally & overseas, In Auckland council offices, hotels and former Prime Minister Helen Clarkes collection. Jess has had several solo exhibitions as well as corporate commissions and completed many personal commissions in New Zealand, Samoa and Australia.

Jess has been a finalist in the Adam, NZ Portrait Gallery Awards and COCA, contemporary NZ Art awards.

After studying Social anthropology, development studies and Masters in International development (2023) Jess spent time working in local history research in Gisborne, NZ. Here she was delving into the past and fielding daily queries on local history, ancestry & whakapapa along with curating public displays such as Tuia 250 Ki Turanga. Following this Jess helped to run a busy social development agency in Gisborne, NZ. Jess has a passion for people, the natural environment, equity and justice.

Jess is currently working toward a series to exhibit in Samoa and overseas and researching climate change impacts on local people and communities in the Pacific along with completing a second Masters in Social and Community Leadership for the non-profit sector (2025).
